The land was purchased by Doane from James Phinny and Stephen Griffith of Harwich, and Reuben Higgins of Orleans. The land was formerly owned by Paul Higgins, late of Orleans, and was descibed in the Timothy Doane deed of August 24, 1801. Doane was reserved all the rights and privileges that Paul Higgins owned, all the right of ? illegible. The property is listed as lying in a "107 share propriety."
